Graduation Address by Mr. Josh Foulger, President, ZETWERK, at the 37th Graduation Day of Kumaraguru College of Technology
Mr. Josh Foulger, President of ZETWERK and a distinguished leader in global manufacturing and technology, delivered an inspiring address at the 37th Graduation Day of Kumaraguru College of Technology. Expressing his delight, he said it was a privilege to return to Coimbatore and to the Kumaraguru campus, a place he holds in high regard. He warmly thanked the institution’s leadership and faculty for their tireless dedication to shaping students with knowledge and character.
In a heartfelt message to the graduates and their families, Mr. Foulger celebrated their achievements, calling it their “finest hour.” He interacted enthusiastically with the students, learning about their career paths and aspirations. Noting that many were already contributing to industries across India — from Coimbatore and Chennai to Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi — he commended their readiness to step into a rapidly evolving global economy.
Mr. Foulger emphasized that the graduates were entering a world of unprecedented opportunity, with India poised to become a $10 trillion economy. He spoke about the importance of manufacturing, engineering services, and global capability centers (GCCs) and highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across all sectors. He urged students to embrace these changes with an open and adaptive mindset. He also reflected on India’s infrastructure growth, inspired by examples from countries like China, and encouraged civil engineers and technologists to contribute to nation-building efforts.
In closing, Mr. Foulger shared five profound lessons that had guided him through his career — lessons he encouraged every graduate to embrace:
First, he urged the students to always remain technically strong and relevant. No matter where life takes them, he stressed the importance of mastering their craft and staying current with technological advancements. He shared the example of a senior colleague still passionately working under a machine, reinforcing the dignity of labor and the pride in technical excellence.
Second, Mr. Foulger advised graduates to be comfortable in their own skin while presenting the best version of themselves. Authenticity, he said, builds trust, and professionalism in demeanor, communication, and conduct is essential because they will not only represent themselves but also their alma mater, families, and eventually their nation.
Third, he emphasized the importance of courage and conviction. Taking the right decisions, even when challenging, defines true leadership. He encouraged graduates to stand firm on their values, to back their convictions with action, and to lead with integrity, especially in times of uncertainty.
Fourth, he highlighted the need for resilience. Life would present obstacles, he said, but resilience—the ability to recover, adapt, and persevere—would be the defining factor between success and failure. He lauded resilience as an inherent strength of Indians and a quality that enables them to succeed globally.
Finally, he urged the graduates to help others selflessly, without expecting anything in return. True leadership, he said, stems from service and humility. Offering help, mentorship, and support to others not only strengthens communities but also enriches one’s own life.
Mr. Foulger praised Kumaraguru College of Technology for grounding students in strong values and character and encouraged them to carry this spirit forward into the world. He concluded by congratulating the graduating class, affirming their role as architects of India’s bright future, and reminding them that their journey of learning, leading, and contributing had only just begun.
