73% Amazon Employees Wish To Quit After Work From Office Rule Imposed – Trak.in

It appears that 73% of Amazon employees are considering quitting due to the mandate imposed by the Amazon CEO Andy Jassy’s by asking employees to return to the office five days a week from January 2.

How Did This Happen?

This all started when Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced that the company’s employees would have to work from offices five days a week starting January 2 next year.

 Following this development, almost 73 percent of the workers have been considering quitting, as per a survey.

It appears that an anonymous job review site Blind found out in its survey that 91 per cent of the employees said that they were “overwhelmingly dissatisfied” with the return-to-office mandate.

The survey was conducted by talking to 2,585 Amazon employees. 

Basically, this survey showcases 91% dissatisfaction further highlighting concerns over flexibility and the impact on remote workers.

Interestingly, nearly 80 percent of the participants claimed that they know of a colleague considering looking for another job.

At the same time, 32 percent feel that they knew someone who had already quit owing to the memo. 

Employees Expecting Better Policies

Further they clarified that they were not expecting this new mandate by the Amazon CEO, Andy Jassy. 

“My morale for this job is gone, gonna totally check out till PIP,” said an employee in the Blind report quoted a verified Amazon professional.

He further referred to the company’s rigorous employee performance culture, which may include performance improvement plans.

“RTO blanket policy is crazy, particularly for those of us who were hired remotely and FAR from an office. I have kids and family here so unwilling to relocate. Even if I didn’t, there’s too great a risk I’d be laid off in 6 months anyway so why risk a move?” said another employee further reflecting on how flexibility in the workplace should have been Amazon’s priority.

Prior to this, media reported that a group of Amazon employees wrote to their bosses leaders expressing concern in February 2023 when the company announced a return to office three days a week- but this was dismissed.
