Ayushmann Khurrana backs out of Border 2

Ayushmann Khurrana exits Border 2 due to ensemble concerns

Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly exited the much-anticipated sequel to Sunny Deol’s 1997 film, Border. Fans were excited to see Ayushmann in a new avatar, but recent reports suggest that the actor has stepped away from the project due to concerns about his role in the ensemble cast.

According to sources, Ayushmann was in discussions with the makers of Border 2 to play an army jawan. However, he felt unsure about his positioning in a film led by Sunny Deol. “While both Ayushmann and the makers were keen on collaborating, the actor felt unsure of his positioning in an ensemble led by Sunny, a towering star in his own right,” a source claimed. Interestingly, this comes days after reports emerged that popular Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is also in talks for Border 2.

The original Border, released in 1997, was widely loved by audiences. Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 will mark Sunny Deol’s return in uniform. The film’s release date is rumored to be Republic Day 2026, though an official announcement is yet to be made.
