Kerala Govt Is Launching Ecommerce App To Order Liquor, Without Home Delivery – Trak.in

Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO) is set to introduce an e-commerce application for liquor sales, aiming to modernize the purchasing process and reduce queues at its outlets. The app, to be developed for both Android and iOS platforms, will allow customers to browse and book liquor products online.

Key Features of the Proposed App

The application is expected to include:

  1. Online browsing and booking of liquor products
  2. User authentication system with age verification
  3. Secure payment gateway supporting multiple methods
  4. Integration with BEVCO’s ERP system
  5. Real-time stock updates for each store
  6. Store location mapping using Google Maps

Purchasing Process

Customers will be able to select products, make online payments, and choose a pickup time and location. The app will generate a booking ID and store details for each purchase. A three-hour window will be provided before pickup, and customers will have a two-day grace period to collect their orders.

No Home Delivery

It’s important to note that the app will not offer home delivery services. Customers will still need to visit the selected BEVCO outlet to collect their purchases, albeit without waiting in queues.

Development Process

BEVCO has approached Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) to identify a suitable startup for developing the app. Interested startups with KSUM Unique ID can submit their proposals through the Kerala Startup Mission portal by October 9.

Official Statement

A senior BEVCO official stated, “BEVCO has decided to launch the app to enhance the customer experience through digital transformation, providing convenient access to product information and booking facilities.”

Potential Impact

The introduction of this app could significantly alter the liquor purchasing experience in Kerala. While it doesn’t eliminate the need to visit stores, it may reduce crowding and waiting times at BEVCO outlets.

Timeline

The deadline for startups to express interest in developing the app is October 9. BEVCO has not yet announced an expected launch date for the application.
