Pune man dies of burns as fire breaks out at dairy farm | Pune News

An elderly man died of burns after a fire broke out in a dairy farm in Pune city early on Friday, the police said.

The police have identified the deceased as Ramdas Salunkhe, 65, the owner of Kisan Dairy in Sukhsagar Nagar.

Fire officials said the exact cause behind the fire has not been ascertained yet.

Local residents spotted a fire after Thursday midnight, broke into the dairy farm and engaged in dousing the flames.

By the time the Pune Fire Brigade officials reached the spot, the fire was extinguished by the residents.

Salunkhe, a resident of Yerwada, used to sleep in the dairy, said fire officer Sunil Naiknaware.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but he was pronounced dead, the police said.

A refrigerator and the mattress on which the dairy owner was sleeping were gutted.

A team of Bibwewadi police station has initiated a probe into the incident.
