BJP releases Jharkhand manifesto: Amit Shah vows to introduce Uniform Civil Code, probe ‘paper leaks’ issue | India News

Union Home Minister Amit Shah promised to introduce Uniform Civil Code in Jharkhand, but vowed to keep tribals out of its ambit as he released BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state. Shah also promised to conduct CBI and SIT inquiries into the ‘paper leaks’ issue.

Releasing the Sankalp Patra at the BJP event held in Ranchi on Sunday, Shah said, “BJP will ensure security of Jharkhand’s ‘Mati, Beti, Roti’ which are under grave threat under current regime.”

Shah said the saffron party will create 5 lakh employment opportunities, including 2.87 lakh government jobs in the state. Slamming the JMM-Congress government, Shah said Hindus are under attack and appeasement is at its peak in Jharkhand while also termed Hemant Soren-led government as the most corrupt state in the country.

Shah said, “Voters will have to choose between JMM govt that patronises infiltrators and BJP which doesn’t allow anyone to cross border illegally.” He added, “BJP, if voted to power in Jharkhand, will deliberate on Sarna religious code issue, take appropriate decision.”

Jharkhand Assembly polls are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20. Vote counting will be held on November 23. The BJP aims to reverse its 2019 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha results. The party fell from 37 Assembly seats in 2014 to just 25 in 2019, losing out in tribal-dominated seats in particular. In the recent Lok Sabha polls, the NDA fell from 11 seats to eight, but lost all Scheduled Tribe-reserved seats to the JMM and Congress.
