432 Hz vs 417 Hz: Frequency you should meditate on for a calming experience | Health News
The benefits of meditation – from improving focus and productivity to grounding oneself and decluttering the mind – have been preached far and wide by experts and wellness enthusiasts. On this World Meditation Day, indianexpress.com decided to take a deep dive into the science of sound healing to explore which frequency – 432 Hz or 417 Hz – offers the most calming experience to meditate on.
“Our body is a bundle of vibrations or sound waves—a fact scientifically proven by Albert Einstein in the 19th century. Everything in the universe, including us, is derived from one universal vibration, the ‘Om,’ which resonates at a frequency upwards of 700 Hz. At our highest state of being, we align with this universal vibration of oneness and bliss,” said Rashoo Sachdeva, a three dimensional leadership coach and sound healer.
However, Sachdeva shared that situations in life often disrupt our natural vibrations, causing us to experience emotions like guilt, grief, and fear, which resonate at frequencies as low as 50 Hz. Listening to higher frequencies can rewire the brain, gradually stimulating emotions associated with higher vibrations such as love, joy, and peace—typically above 400 Hz.
“Our reality gets determined by our predominant vibration and can be shifted or re-calibrated through the principle of resonance,” he said. By listening to music and sounds that carry a particular frequency your internal vibration starts getting attuned upwards or downwards. Music can lead to grief or joy, it can heal or hurt, he said.
According to Sachdeva, “acceptance” begins at a frequency of 400 Hz – particularly 417 Hz clears us of any negative emotions and 432 Hz creates a calming and relaxing effect. However, when asked which one works better, he revealed that the impact varies from person to person, depending on his or her present state.
Tips for using healing frequencies
Sachdeva stressed the importance of sourcing healing music from credible sources to ensure its effectiveness. “Use these frequencies consciously to develop awareness of how they influence your emotions and vibrations,” he said.
He also warned against listening to such frequencies while engaging in activities like driving, walking, or running. “External vibrations can distract or overstimulate, so it’s best to reserve them for meditation or relaxation sessions,” Sachdeva said.
By tuning into the right frequencies, you can elevate your inner vibrations and create a more balanced, serene reality for yourself.
