Aarogyasri services to continue as usual in private hospitals across Telangana

The Telangana Health Department has assured that Arogyasri health services will continue to operate in private hospitals, ensuring uninterrupted care for patients. This announcement came on Wednesday following concerns over outstanding payments to hospitals under the scheme.

After The Hindu reported that the State government owed approximately ₹1,100 crores to Aarogyasri Network Hospitals, Arogyasri CEO Siva Sankar Lotheti held discussions with representatives of the Telangana Aarogyasri Network Hospitals Association (THANA). Acting on the directives of Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, the CEO urged hospitals to continue providing medical services without inconveniencing patients, according to an official release.

The release highlighted the government’s commitment to the scheme, noting that ₹1,130 crores were disbursed to hospitals last year. It also mentioned a significant revision of rates for pending medical packages, which had not been updated since 2013, with an average price hike of 22%.

In response, representatives of the Network Hospitals Association assured that services under the Arogyasri scheme would remain unaffected. They expressed their willingness to cooperate, as confirmed in the health department’s statement.

The release further underscored the government’s dedication to public welfare, stating that it had cleared ₹730 crores in dues left unpaid by the previous administration.
