Andhra Pradesh Government ignoring tribal people of Srikakulam district: Adivasi association
Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) [CPI(ML)] New Democracy State leader Vankala Madhava Rao and Adivasi Samsskshema Parishad’s State vice-president Vaba Yogi on Sunday (January 12, 2025) alleged that the State Government was completely ignoring welfare of tribal people living in Srikakulam district.
Speaking to media, in Srikakulam, they charged that there was no response from the government over their demand for the establishment of Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Meliyaputti, though more than 4 lakh tribal people are living in the district.
Mr. Madhava Rao said the previous YSRCP government allocated Sithampet ITDA to the newly carved Parvatipuram-Manyam district although it had ITDA headquartered at Parvatipuram for many decades. Mr. Vaba Yogi said tribal population was significant in 16 mandals including Meliyaputti, Saravakota, Mandasa and other places. He demanded allocation of at least one Assembly seat in the district for ST community. He said their month long agitations would continue to achieve an exclusive ITDA for the district.
