Karan Johar announces Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Bollywood debut weeks after attack on Saif Ali Khan: ‘Strong friendship continues’ | Bollywood News
Karan Johar has launched several star kids in his films, including Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, and many others. The filmmaker and producer is now set to introduce Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, to Bollywood. On Wednesday, Karan took to Instagram to announce Ibrahim’s debut and reminisced about his bond with Saif and Amrita, declaring, “Films are in their blood, their genes” in the Khan family.
Karan shared photos of Ibrahim from a photoshoot and recalled how Amrita Singh had worked with his father, Yash Johar, in the 1984 film Duniya. He also looked back on his first meeting with Amrita and how she treated him like family. He wrote, “I met Amrita or Dingy, how the loved ones like to call her…when I was just 12 years old. She did a film for @dharmamovies with my father called Duniya, and I remember so vividly the grace, the energy & the commandment over the camera she had. BUT, what I remember the most is the warmest chinese dinner with her and her hairstylist of the time after our first meeting, followed by a James Bond movie! She treated me like her own the second we met and that was the power of her grace…which lives on through her and her children too!”
Recalling his first encounter with Saif, Karan wrote, “With Saif, it was in Anand Mahendru’s office where I first met him. Young, suave, charming & effortless…VERY much like the first time I met Ibrahim. And a strong friendship that continues from our generation to luckily our kids!!!”
Karan also highlighted his long-standing connection with the Khan family, writing, “I know this family for 40 years.” He mentioned working with all its members—Amrita in Duniya, Saif in Kal Ho Naa Ho and Kurbaan, and Sara Ali Khan in Simmba. Declaring how deeply cinema runs in their family, Karan stated, “I know this family for the heart they have. Films are in their blood, their genes and their passion. We make way for a new wave of talent, one that I cannot wait for the world to see.” Announcing Ibrahim’s debut, he wrote, “So, stay tuned as @iakpataudi makes his way into your hearts and soon…onto the screens!”
According to reports, Ibrahim will make his Bollywood debut in Dharma Productions’ Sarzameen. The film will reportedly also star Kajol in a pivotal role and will be directed by Kayoze Irani, son of actor Boman Irani.
Karan Johar’s announcement comes weeks after Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his home during an alleged robbery attempt. The actor sustained six stab wounds and underwent two surgeries, including one near his spine, before being discharged a week ago.
