One of the top rung hotels in Banjara Hills of Hyderabad was sealed on Thursday (February 20, 2025) morning for defaulting on Property Tax payment.
The Taj Banjara Hotel, located near the Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, was locked up by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) officials for non-payment of tax dues for the past two years. Later, upon partial payment, the locks have been removed, said officials.
The hotel is owned by Taj Group of Hotels, headquartered in Mumbai. Officials from Jubilee Hills Circle reportedly visited the hotel and locked all the three gates, after pasting notices on the doors.

Officials from the Revenue wing confirmed this and said the hotel’s management has defaulted on Rs. 1.43 crore by way of Property Tax for two years.
Notices were sent during the past two months seeking clearance of dues, but to no avail, forcing the authorities to take punitive action, they said.
On Friday (February 21, 2025) morning, part of the dues, up to Rs. 55 lakh were cleared, and an assurance has been given towards clearing the rest by March 10, said Revenue wing officials.
