Gang of property offenders busted, five arrested in Chittoor district of A.P.

Five members of a gang of property offenders, involved in several offences in various districts in the State, were arrested and ₹35 lakh worth gold, silver and two-wheelers were recovered from them.

Producing the arrested accused before the media, Superintendent of Police V. N. Manikanta Chandolu said that the four of the accused were having multiple cases against them. The accused were involved in the theft of a two-wheeler from Putalapattu in the district on March 6. Following a complaint, the Putalapattu police investigated the case and caught the accused at P. Kothakota road and recovered the stolen property.

Mr. Manikanta Chandolu said the accused were involved in chain snatchings, theft of two-wheelers and also in burglaries in temples and houses in various parts of Chittoor, and at Kadapa, Kavali, Kurnool, Badwel and other police stations across the State.

The accused have been identified as — G Hemachandra of Tavanampalle mandal of Chittoor, K. Suresh of CS Puram mandal in Prakasam district, Shaik Mastan of Puttur town in Tirupati district, P. Varaprasad of ODC Mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district and R Sanjay Kumar of Chittoor Rural in the district.

The SP said 60 cases were registered earlier against Hemachandra, 27 cases against Suresh, 57 against Mastan, and one case against Varaprasad. A PD Act was also registered against Hemachandra and Suresh in the Gajulamandyam police station.

Police recovered 316 grams of gold ornaments, 3.150 kilo grams silver articles, two motorcycles and a television from the accused.
