AUS vs IND, 5th Test: Pant scores second fastest Test fifty by an Indian
Rishabh Pant scored the second fastest Test fifty by an Indian during the fifth Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Pant reached his half-century off 29 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes; his previous record was a fifty in 28 balls against Sri Lanka in 2022.
He was on the verge of getting the quickest Test fifty by an Indian when he was 47 off 23 balls. However, it took him six more balls to complete the remaining three runs.
This is the fastest fifty by a visiting batter in Australia, bettering England’s John Brown (1895) and Roy Fredericks (1975), previously held record of 33 balls.
The wicketkeeper-batter began his innings with a six off Scott Boland and reached his milestone with a maximum as well, off Mitchell Starc.
