Bose Venkat urges his Kanguva co-star Suriya to join politics, takes a dig at Vijay: ‘An actor has to guide his fans instead of keeping them as fools’ | Tamil News

The audio launch of Kanguva held on Saturday was largely a controversy-free event, except for the ruffling of feathers courtesy actor-filmmaker Bose Venkat, who is playing a pivotal role in the Siva directorial. Taking to the stage quite early in the event, Venkat, who recently helmed the Vemal-starrer Sir, said, “A superstar has to guide the fans. It should be like how Suriya does it with his ‘anbaana’ fans.”

While this seemed like a rather sedate but assured start about the relationship between Suriya and his fans, things took a turn for the… Well, let’s call it interesting. “Teach your fans righteousness. Teach them to be benevolent. Teach them to respect people and live fulfilling lives. Give them education and the knowledge to understand right and wrong. Then, after all this, one can come to politics,” said Venkat. This statement came a day before the first mass gathering of actor-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam.

Bose Venkat tried to assuage the responses by saying that a leader can come from anywhere, however, he soon circled back to referencing Vijay in his speech, and said, “A leader cannot be born by keeping your fans as fools. Make them knowledgeable. Make them study. Suriya sir, you should come to politics.”

This speech didn’t go down well with many netizens, who are excited about TVK’s debut party meeting on a massive scale. Many even pointed out that Venkat’s allegiance to the ruling DMK government in the state made him make these remarks against other actor-turned-politicians, including Vijay.
