Exclusive: Kunchacko Boban says his character in Officer on Duty is emotionally fragile

Kunchacko Boban and Priyamani starrer Officer on Duty has been released on an OTT platform for viewers to enjoy. It is available in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages. During an exclusive interview with Filmfare, as a part of In The Ring, Kunchacko and Priyamani had spilled some details about the movie, including nuances of their characters.
While speaking to Filmfare’s Editor-In-Chief Jitesh Pillaai, Kunchacko called Officer on Duty a cop movie, but not strictly so. “Officer on Duty is a cop movie. But it is not strictly a cop movie. There are so many layers attached to it. We are talking about suicide, police officers, family men. We are talking about how police officers are only humans. He has his family, friends and his private life as well. But things that have happened in his professional life might overpower his personal life as well. These are all connected.”

Delving deeper, Kunchacko also noted that the movie speaks about his characters arc as a police officer. “The movie also talks about how my characters gets connected emotionally and professionally. All of this is said in an engaged and entertaining manner,” he shared. “The intro scenes of my character might make him appear arrogant. But he has an emotional side as well. He is emotionally fragile,” he added.

Priyamani plays the role of his wife. Kunchacko also opened up on their equation in the movie and compared their characters’ personalities. Sharing how Priyamani’s character showed more strength than his, he said, “At times, Priyamani’s character is more powerful. Emotionally as well. It’s a mutual give and take. He is a simple human being and an ordinary person but circumstances might make him do impossible things. Everything that is happening in the movie is for a reason.”
