Exclusive: Shruti Haasan Reveals Why She Was Called Unlucky In The Beginning Of Her Career

Shruti Haasan is a big name in the pan-Indian film industry. While being Kamal Haasan’s daughter has been instrumental in her being in the limelight since childhood, the actress made her own path after debuting with the 2000 film Hey Ram. Despite having an actor in the family, Shruti’s journey wasn’t like walking in a path of flowers. She had her share of ups and downs to deal with, which made her stronger eventually.
Shruti further added, “And they were like ‘We don’t want her.’ Then Pawan Kalyan sir was like ‘no, we get her.’ And my whole career trajectory changed.” While thanking the people who believed in her during her initial years in the industry, the actress said, “Suddenly Bombay started looking, Tamil started looking. Do you know what I mean? It’s just the people and how they believe in you. It translates even creatively when they believe you can carry something off. And they are collaborative and communicative. It makes a difference.”

Shruti’s Telugu debut was Anaganaga O Dheerudu in 2011, while her Tamil debut was 7aum Arivu in the same year. She made her Hindi debut with the movie Luck in 2009. She went on the star in movies like Oh My Friend, 7th Sense, Gabbar Singh, Balupu, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, Devi and more.
