Himesh Reshammiya reacts to Asha Bhosle saying he should be slapped for calling RD Burman’s singing nasal: ‘She was justified’ | Bollywood News

“If anyone says Burman sa’ab sang through his nose, he should be slapped,” veteran singer Asha Bhosle had once remarked after getting irked by a comment made by singer Himesh Reshammiya. In a recent interaction, Himesh spoke about Asha’s reaction and why she was upset with him.
In a conversation with Radio Nasha, Himesh admitted, “She was justified and that’s why I apologised to her.”
The “Aap Kaa Surroor” singer went on to explain the reason behind Asha Bhosle’s anger, saying, “We were performing live shows. Everybody was loving the songs but some people had a point of view that I sing nasally. Today, because I am so successful, I can say yes this is nasal and nobody will mind that. But when my first 5-6 songs released, which were hits, some criticised them, calling it nasal. To counter them I was trying to say that it is high-pitch, I defended my high-pitch voice, which they were calling nasal.”
He added, “While defending myself, I said that RD Burman would also sing nasally. Asha Bhosle didn’t like that and she said, ‘Somebody should slap him.’ I shouldn’t have said that. I should have just admitted, ‘Yes, this is nasal’ so the whole topic would have ended.”
Himesh Reshammiya gained widespread recognition after composing music for Salman Khan’s film Tere Naam. He went on to compose for hit films like Aitraaz, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Aksar, Bodyguard, and Kick. In 2007, he made his acting debut with Aap Kaa Surroor and later starred in films like Karzzzz, Radio, The Xposé, and others. He was recently seen in Badass Ravikumar.
