India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.10% By Investing.com


Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the lost 0.10%, while the index declined 0.11%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:), which rose 1.92% or 13.90 points to trade at 736.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:) added 1.43% or 33.50 points to end at 2,372.45 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.00% or 2.90 points to 292.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.65% or 5.20 points to trade at 310.10 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) declined 1.62% or 15.20 points to end at 921.85 and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was down 1.30% or 18.30 points to 1,387.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.79% to 735.45, ITC Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.88% to settle at 478.35 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.78% to close at 2,168.55.

The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.79% to 309.60 in late trade, JSW Steel Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.44% to settle at 923.20 and State Bank Of India (BO:) which was down 1.09% to 812.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1285 to 1201 and 155 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1913 fell and 1906 advanced, while 92 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.83% to 13.14.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.05% or 1.26 to $2,629.46 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.84% or 0.58 to hit $69.82 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.57 to trade at $72.89 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.10% to 85.19, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 88.51.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 107.96.
