The name doesn’t need any introduction when it comes to the context of the IPL. Dhoni as a captain played a key role in the success of CSK and helped them to win the trophy five times. However, last season he handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad but continues to play a role as a keeper and dynamic finisher in the batting order.
Faf du Plessis Age: 40 years|Team: Delhi Captials
The South African has been a seasoned campaigner in the tournament. Though the majority of his success as a player came at CSK in the last three years playing and captaining RCB he showed he still has the hunger and skill to compete in the best T20 league of the world. His experience and versatility as a player will be a huge bonus for the Capitals in the upcoming season.

The Indian off-spinner has called it a day in red-ball cricket for India however, he ensured he will participate in domestic and franchise cricket. Playing the last few years for the Rajasthan Royals Ashwin did manage to put up some handy performances both with the bat and ball. However, for the upcoming season he has come back to the franchise where it all began for him, and with his experience on those spin-assisting tracks, Ashwin will be a handful.
Rohit Sharma Age: 37 years|Team: Mumbai Indians
Similar to MS Dhoni, Rohit has been a stalwart for Mumbai and played a key role both as captain and the batter in the side’s success. Alongside CSK MI has won five IPL trophies. Though Rohit would not be captaining Mumbai this year his role as an opener in setting the tone will be crucial for Mumbai.
