NEET-UG paper leak case: CBI arrests journalist in Jharkhand, conducts searches in Gujarat | India News

In yet another arrest in connection to the ongoing 2024 NEET paper leak case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Saturday arrested a journalist from Jharkhand.

Jamaluddin Ansari, the journalist working with a Hindi daily, was arrested for allegedly trying to help the principal and the vice-principal, the officials said on Saturday.

This comes two days after the probing agency arrested two people from Patna, who had allegedly made arrangements for the accommodation of NEET UG examinees on May 4, a day before the exam – the same day they allegedly memorised the solved paper.

CBI conducts searches at 7 locations in Gujarat

Meanwhile, the CBI which took over the case from Bihar’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) also conducted searches at seven locations in Gujarat on Saturday.

The operation began in the morning at the premises of suspects spread across four districts of Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad and Godhra, as per officials.

Six FIRs have been registered six FIRs in the NEET-UG case so far.

This includes its own FIR on a reference from the Union education ministry and five from the states where it took over the investigation. The probe agency has taken over one case each in Bihar and Gujarat and three in Rajasthan.

Four examinees are among the 13 accused in the case, besides five more arrests made later.
