HURRICANE BERYL: Mexico announces red alert as hurricane is moving towards the coast

Mexico has announced a red alert as Hurricane Beryl is approaching towards the coastline as a third category storm. People are advised to stay at their homes or storm shelter.

President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has requested the people to take shelter at their home or in storm shelter. Such torrential rain may lead to land sliding and flooding.

It has done extensive damage to buildings and home at Carriacou, Grenada. About 80% of houses are damaged at Grenada because of this storm. It has done severe damage at Canounan, Saint Vincent, Union Island, Mayreau and the Grenadines.

At least 100 flights were cancelled at the Cancun International Airport on Thursday.

In Barbados, houses are being damaged by it. It has affected the fishing sector, and coastal infrastructure. St Lucia, Trinidad, Tobago are facing roadways blockages. As per reports, Dominica is reported as the least damaged part.

It hit the Yucatan peninsula’ s eastern coast on Friday with a wind speed of 115 mph. The US National Hurricane Centre has warned it as a dangerous storm.

Hurricane Beryl originated in the Caribbean islands. Upon moving towards northwest, it affected Jamaica, Cayman Island and Mexico. Two deaths were reported by Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
