Shah Rukh Khan drank rum for his role in Devdas to look more authentic, reveals his co star
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, known for his performances in Devdas, My Name is Khan, and many others, doesn’t shy away from experimenting with new things to look more authentic and embody the character.
In Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Khan, who had to play the role of an alcoholic, actually drank alcohol because he believed it was necessary for the character.
Tiku Talsania, his co-star who played the role of Dharamdas in the film, revealed that Shah Rukh Khan would take shots of rum one after the other in the afternoon sun. When questioned, the Bollywood superstar replied, “Sir, acting toh ho jayegi. Aankhon mein sharab dikhti nahi hai na, uska kya.”
Talsania further revealed that Khan was a genius who would put in a lot of effort for his character and would come prepared to the sets of Devdas.
In an interview, Milind Gunaji, also a part of Devdas, revealed that when he lost his father during the filming of the movie, Shah Rukh Khan was prepared to stop the shoot and supported him.
The movie Devdas was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in titular roles.
Shah Rukh Khan gave back to back blockbusters last year with movies like Jawan, Pathaan and Dunki.
