SS Rajamouli’s video call with Japanese video game designer Hideo Kojima sparks curiosity

Director SS Rajamouli is known for global collaborations! Be it Vfx or action sequences in his films, the filmmaker sets world-class standards and thrives on excellence when it comes to blending technology into his narrative.
Rajamouli is presently working on #SSMB29, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Rajamouli and his son Karthikeya held a virtual meeting with top Japanese video game designer Hideo Kojima. The meeting naturally sparked curiosity on social media about a possible collaboration.
Hideo, known for creating games like Metal Gear and Death Stranding, couldn’t hold his excitement and took to social media to share the news. Posting a screenshot of the video call he had with Rajamouli and Karthikeya, Hideo captioned, “With director S.S. Rajamouli and his son and producer, S.S. Karthikeya.” In reply, Karthikeya posted, “Beyond excited for this,” with a love emoji.
Fans under the comment section started predicting their conversation and many are calling it the ‘collaboration for the ages.’ Many fans expressed curiosity about what’s about to unfold… something like a crossover between Rajamouli’s films and Kojima’s video games.

Rajamouli’s first rendezvous with Hideo
Rajamouli, along with his RRR stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR, went to Japan to promote the film (dubbed) in October 2022. During the time, Rajamouli met Hideo who was all praises for the director. Hideo also recalled how he started watching Indian movies after Rajinikanth’s Tamil film ‘Muthu’ was released in Japan in 1998. Subsequently he fell in love with Aamir Khan’s films before he was fascinated with Rajamouli’s films Baahubali series and RRR.
Who is Hideo Kojima?
Regarded as one of the first auteurs of video games, Hideo Kojima is renowned for designing games like Metal Gear, Zone of the Enders series, Snatcher and Policenauts. Kojima founded Kojima Productions with Konami in 2005.

Following his departure from Konami in 2015, he refounded Kojima Productions as an independent studio; his first game outside Konami, Death Stranding, was released in 2019.
