Suzhal: The Vortex Season 2 to begin streaming on Prime Video this month | Web-series News
It’s been almost three years since Suzhal: The Vortex, one of the most popular Tamil web-series, began streaming on Prime Video. Having received critical acclaim and becoming one of the most appreciated Tamil series, the makers have announced the premiere of the second season. The much-anticipated follow-up to Suzhal will begin streaming on February 28.
Just like the first part, the second part too will be headlined by Aishwarya Rajesh and Kathir, reprising their roles of Nandini and Sakkarai. The series is created by the director duo of Pushkar and Gayathri. While Bramma, who helmed four episodes in the first season, returns for the second, Kirumi director Anucharan M is replaced by Sarjun KM.
The series will continue from where season 1 left off, even if the happenings move from the town of Sambaloor to the village of Kaalipattanam. If it was Maayanakollai that was at the core of season 1, it is the Ashtakaali festival that is the base of season 2. And there is an unexpected murder that rattles the village of Kaalipattanam, and unites Nandini and Sakkarai in a quest for unearthing truth. The official logline of Season 2 of Suzhal reads, “The second season picks up from the momentous climax of season one, with Nandini (Aishwarya) staring at an uncertain future in prison, while Sakkarai (Kathir) reaches a mystifying village with a sinister history. But an unexpected murder casts a dark shadow on the village and its natives, spreading far and wide.”

Apart from Kathir and Aishwarya, the series also features an impressive ensemble, including actors like Lal, Gouri Kishan, Saravanan, Monisha Blessy, Samyuktha Vishwarnathan, Rini, Nikhila Shankar, and Ashwini Nambiar. There are two high-profile cameos by Manjima Mohan and Chandran.

The sequel to Suzhal is a welcome addition to the Tamil web-series space where, more often than not, the first season ends in a cliffhanger, but there is no resolution per se to it because they don’t get commissioned for a second season. With speculations of Vadandhi 2 also doing the rounds, it might just seem like a much-needed shot in the arm for the Tamil web series space.
