Taxis, Buses, Trucks In Delhi Will Get Traffic Challan On Whatsapp Now – Trak.in
In a significant move to digitize traffic enforcement, Delhi’s transport department will soon start sending e-challans to commercial vehicle owners through WhatsApp. Currently, around 1,000-1,500 e-challans are issued daily. The department expects these numbers to increase substantially once this system is operational, reaching a wider audience and enhancing compliance rates.
New System to Streamline Notifications and Payment Process
The transport department has initiated the process of hiring a service provider who will be responsible for implementing this system. This provider will establish WhatsApp accounts linked to e-challan information through the e-Parivahan portal, which will facilitate streamlined notifications and payment processes. The WhatsApp messages will feature hyperlinks and PDFs for easy access to details and payment links, according to officials.
Multi-Format Communication in English and Hindi
In a bid to reach a diverse user base, the WhatsApp messages will support formats like text, images, video, and PDFs, ensuring that vehicle owners receive all necessary information in a clear and accessible format. The communication will be bilingual, catering to both English and Hindi speakers to maximize effectiveness and accessibility.
Automated Notifications for a Seamless User Experience
The new system will automate various notifications, including e-challans, payment reminders, due date alerts, payment receipts, and certificates. This automation ensures vehicle owners stay informed about pending dues, which is expected to improve compliance and reduce traffic violations.
With an estimated 82 lakh active vehicles in Delhi, the new WhatsApp e-challan system represents a significant step towards digital enforcement, potentially boosting efficiency and compliance across the capital’s transportation network.
