TCS Gets Rs 2903 Crore 4G Order From BSNL – Trak.in

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a significant add-on order worth ₹2,903 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), reinforcing its lead role in India’s telecom transformation. The order pertains to the planning, supply, and maintenance of BSNL’s 4G mobile network across 18,685 sites nationwide.

TCS revealed the order in an exchange filing on May 21, just before markets opened. Following the announcement, TCS shares opened marginally higher at ₹3,503.20.
What the Deal Covers
According to TCS, the APO includes:
- Planning & engineering
- Installation & commissioning
- Annual maintenance support for the network rollout
The execution will further scale up BSNL’s 4G infrastructure, with eyes also on 5G readiness in the near future.
TCS noted that final documentation and conditions are pending, and more details will be released by BSNL soon.
Tejas Network Secures ₹1,525 Cr Order from TCS
Tejas Networks, a telecom equipment provider and part of the Tata Group, confirmed that it has received a supply order worth ₹1,525.53 crore from TCS. The order covers the delivery of:
- Radio Access Network (RAN) gear
- Associated telecom hardware and services
The equipment will be used to fulfil TCS’s commitments to BSNL under the new order.
Context: TCS–BSNL Collaboration & Financial Snapshot
This development is part of the larger ₹15,000 crore BSNL-TCS project that aims to build:
- Pan-India 4G sites
- Telecom-grade data centres
- Foundations for future 5G deployments
Back in January, TCS CEO K. Krithivasan had stated that the BSNL contract is 70% complete, and its revenue impact would taper from Q4 of FY25. The company is exploring new opportunities to offset this decline.
Market View: Volatility Amid Macroeconomic Pressures
TCS shares have been volatile:
- Down 1% in the past 5 days
- Up 6% over the last month
- Gained 14.5% year-to-date in 2025
Despite macroeconomic headwinds, TCS reported:
- Q4 FY25 consolidated revenue: ₹64,479 crore (↑5.3% YoY)
- Net profit: ₹12,224 crore (↓2% YoY)
This fresh BSNL order is expected to support TCS’s near-term telecom portfolio and maintain revenue momentum amidst sector-wide pressures.
