Thalapathy Vijay Is Greatest Of All Time Movie Review

In a cinematic universe where legends are born and reborn, Thalapathy Vijay Is Greatest Of All Time stands tall as a tribute to his towering persona, brilliantly showcasing the unparalleled charisma of the one and only Thalapathy Vijay. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, this film blends jaw-dropping action with heartwarming nostalgia. Venkat Prabhu has been known for his technical finesse but he’s in a true fanboy mode here. The focus is to create visuals that offer bookmarks to the different stages of Vijay’s cinematic journey. And the director vastly succeeds in his intention. While the core audience will get the hints, we’re not sure whether those unfamiliar with Vijay’s work will get the various references. That’s not to say that this father-son film can’t be enjoyed on its own.

From the very first scene, where Vijay’s character Gandhi leads a high-octane anti-terrorism operation set in a moving train in Africa, the film establishes itself as a lavishly mounted thriller. The film shuttles between Africa, Thailand, Chennai and Delhi and is shot well. The action sequences are nothing short of spectacular, featuring choreography that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. But it’s not just about adrenaline-pumping moments; Vijay’s performance as Gandhi and his wayward son Jeevan is a testament to his versatility. While he’s Vijay the superstar as Gandhi, he gets more to do as Jeevan, as it’s a better layered role. You can see that freed from fan expectations, he’s having a wonderful time playing the unhinged character.

What truly sets GOAT apart is the dazzling CGI de-aging that breathes new life into Vijay’s dual roles. Watching Vijay transition seamlessly between his younger and older selves is nothing short of cinematic magic. The technology used here doesn’t just enhance the visual appeal—it amplifies Vijay’s already formidable screen presence, allowing fans to revel in the nostalgia of his earlier roles while experiencing the thrill of his current persona. There are nods and winks to some of Vijay’s most iconic moments and the film’s clever references to Vijay’s political aspirations are sure to stir the hearts of long-time fans, making each frame a cherished homage.

The supporting cast adds a vibrant layer to the film. Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, and Ajmal Ameer shine in their roles, while Sneha’s chemistry with Vijay provides a delightful touch of humour and warmth. Yogi Babu’s cameo, while amusing, is the kind of comic relief that we’ve come to expect from the veteran. There’s nothing new here but we still laugh because he’s so good.

As the film reaches its climax, set against the backdrop of a thrilling CSK vs MI cricket match at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, it delivers one of the most exhilarating and fan-pleasing finales imaginable. The blend of suspense, humour, and mass appeal reaches its zenith here, with the crowd-pleasing moments perfectly showcasing why Vijay is celebrated as the greatest of all time. That we get to see Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the big screen, going about his cricketing shots in style, is an added bonus. The commentary applies both to Dhoni and to Vijay fighting the villain, which is quite witty indeed,

In his penultimate film before transitioning into a political career, Vijay offers a performance that not only cements his status as a cinematic legend but also provides fans with a movie that’s equal parts action-packed spectacle and nostalgic tribute.

Summing up, Thalapathy Vijay Is Greatest Of All Time is a resounding celebration of everything we love about this superstar—a true testament to his legacy and enduring appeal. It’s a must-watch for all his fans.
