Vaibhav Suryavanshi tells Rahul Dravid he had 500 missed calls after IPL century, switched off phone for few days | Cricket News

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s maiden Indian Premier League season ended with a half-century against the Chennai Super Kings. Thanks to his 57-run knock off 33 balls, the Rajasthan Royals’ chase of 188 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium got off to a solid start. The 14-year-old also won hearts by touching the feet of Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni when the teams shook hands after the match. Vaibhav Suryavanshi ended the IPL 2025 season with 252 runs from seven innings with a century and a half century to his name.
After the game, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was interviewed by India cricket legend Rahul Dravid, who is also the chief coach at the Rajasthan Royals, for the official IPL site.
Dravid asked him how many people called and texted him after the barnstorming century against Gujarat Titans in just 35 balls, which is the second-fastest century in IPL history.
“There were more than 500 missed calls. But I’ve switched off the phone,” Vaibhav Suryavanshi said with his hand on his forehead.

Later asked by Dravid about the challenges of managing things away from the 22-yard strip after his century, he said: “A lot of people approached me after the century , but I don’t like that a lot. I kept my phone switched off for 2-4 days. I don’t like having too many many people around. Just my family and a few friends, that’s enough.”
Asked by Dravid what he had learnt over the span of the season, he said: “Stay focussed. And more than natural game, play as per the needs of the team. Don’t try to do too much extra, just stick to your strengths.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s game awareness was praised by captain Sanju Samson in the post-match presentation.
