VIDEO | Winning culture drives Mumbai Indians forward, says head coach Jayawardene

Following Mumbai Indians’ 20-run victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL Eliminator, head coach Mahela Jayawardene emphasized the importance of a winning culture in the post-match press conference.

Despite integrating new players, Mumbai’s success, propelled by Rohit Sharma’s 81 off 50 and Jonny Bairstow’s 47 off 22, saw it post 228/5 and restrict Titans to 208/6.

Jayawardene stated, “When you have a winning culture, it’s easier to try and have that same thing going through even if you have a new group.”

He highlighted the role of senior players, adding, “The conversation that he has around planning is about how we can get better and how we can push through, that winning mentality itself comes from those senior players.”

Jayawardene further noted, “Having those experienced guys who have won those trophies does help and my job is to try and cultivate that for the new guys who come to the team.”
