Viineet Kumar Siingh imagined his brother being tortured while shooting Chhaava climax with Vicky Kaushal: ‘Bhai ko chheel ke rakh diya hai’ | Bollywood News

Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava has taken the box office by storm, emerging as the biggest blockbuster of 2025. The film has minted Rs 200 crore within its first week of release, with several scenes going viral on social media. One particular scene that left audiences shaken was the intense torture sequence featuring Vicky Kaushal and Viineet Kumar Siingh. While Vicky plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Viineet portrays Kavi Kalash, a trusted aide and companion.

Speaking about the emotionally charged climax, where Vicky’s character is bound and tortured by Aurangzeb’s men, Viineet revealed that filming the scene with empathy felt natural to him due to his long-standing bond with Vicky. Reflecting on their connection, he told Digital Commentary, “We are were waiting for that scene for a long time. That was shot later in the schedule. When we were shooting for it, we had some hopes from it. I have a soft corner for Vicky because when I was starring in Gangs of Wasseypur, he was an assistant director on the film. We had a bond back then also. We have some similarities, Vicky is an engineer and I am a doctor. Somehow I feel we were destined for his role in Chhaava.”

Discussing how he immersed himself in the character, Viineet shared, “Before starting the scene, I would look back at Vicky and I had the feeling that they have peeled off my dear brother, for whom I would have sacrificed everything. I had the feeling that they have tortured my brother but we can’t bow down in front of them because Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj had this pride that Aurangzeb can do anything but he can’t break his spirit. After this thought I got into the character within 5 seconds. That scene’s shooting went on for the whole night.”

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Chhaava also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta in key roles. The film had a theatrical release on February 14.
