Pat Cummins’ men, will however, start as favourites this time with the visitors entering without captain Rohit Sharma. Speedster Jasprit Bumrah will take over the reins in Rohit’s absence while a call on injured Shubman Gill will be taken closer to the game.

As reported earlier by the Indian Express, R Ashwin is set to play as the specialist spinner over Ravindra Jadeja with Nitish Kumar Reddy set for Test debut as the fourth pacer. In captain Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, India have two automated picks in the seamers’ slots. However, a toss-up between Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna and the uncapped Harshit Rana is expected for the third spot. Should Gill fail to recover from his thumb injury, India is likely to go in with Devdutt Padikkal at number three.
