Wrestler Shivraj Rakshe attacks referee after decision ruled against him | Pune News
A semi-final wrestling match in the 67th Maharashtra Kesari Wrestling tournament in Ahilyanagari turned ugly when wrestler Shivraj Rakshe of Nanded physically attacked a referee after a decision went against him. The scuffle led to a nervous atmosphere as police were called in to ensure peace.
The incident occurred during a bout between Rakshe and Prithviraj Mohol, where the decision went in favour of Mohol, leading to a heated confrontation. Rakshe grabbed the referee by the collar and kicked him, alleging bias in the judgment in front of the media. The controversy erupted when Mohol was declared the winner.
Rakshe claimed to the referees that the decision was unfair and accused officials of partiality. He requested a jury in front of the media to review the decision.
“I was unfairly ruled out. There was clear favouritism in the decision,…I have complained to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. I have demanded that I should be shown the review…If the decision is right, then I will quit (the sport),” Rakshe told the media.
